Specified Skilled Worker System

I would like to work as a specified skill worker, but what qualifications are required?

First, you will need to pass a proficiency test in the field in which you wish to work, as well as a Japanese language test.
If you pass the Agriculture Skill Assessment Test (arable farming or livestock farming) and the "Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N4 or above", or the "JFT-Basic Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese", you can be employed as a specified skilled worker.

Please tell me about the various residence application procedures for foreign human resources working as specified skilled workers.

Foreigners who wish to enter and reside in Japan with the "Specified Skilled Worker" status of residence can apply for various residence applications at the Immigration Office nearest to you.

Employment fields

If I have completed Technical Intern Training (ii) in a field other than agriculture, can I transfer to a specified skill in the field of agriculture?

If you pass the skill assessment test in the agricultural field (arable farming or livestock farming), you can work as a Specified Skilled Worker (i). If you have completed Technical Intern Training (ii) in good standing, you are exempt from the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.

I have passed the skill measurement test for arable farming. Can I work in livestock farming?

If you pass only the arable farming examination, you cannot engage in livestock farming operations because you have not mastered the skills that are fundamental to livestock farming. However, if they have also passed the skills assessment test for livestock farming, you may engage in both types of work (the same applies if the fields are reversed and you have completed the Technical Intern Training (ii) in either field).
In addition, if the farmer operates a combined arable and livestock farming operation and the Japanese employees are incidentally engaged in livestock farming operations in addition to their regular arable farming operations, specified skilled foreigner workers may also be incidentally engaged in livestock farming operations as related work.

In which languages can I take the test?

The following is a list of languages that you can take the tests in:Japanese, English, Burmese, Khmer, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, Nepali, Chinese, Mongolian (at present) You can choose the language in which you would like to take the test when you apply.

An error occurred during the test application process and I cannot register or apply for an ID.

Please note that the following cases in particular will result in an error.
•Enter your name and address with alphabetical characters.
•If you are paying by credit card, you can only use a card that is compatible with 3D Secure.

When will I know the results of the test?

•The test results will be displayed on the screen after completing the test.
Result notifications will be available on the booking website within five business days of the completion of the test.

If I fail the exam, is there a provision for retaking the exam?

The same test cannot be taken for 45 days starting from the day after the test date.

What payment methods are available?

In principle, payment can be made by credit card (even if the examinee is not the credit card holder) or PayPay. If you are taking the test as a corporation, you may purchase a voucher.
